Emma's Biography: On the 15th day of April in the year nineteen hundred and ninety a star was born. In Oxfordshire, England, Jacqueline and Chris Watson had a daughter, Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson. Emma began her acting career while at school with lead roles in several plays, including ‘Arthur: The Young Years’ and ‘The Happy Prince’. Along with plays, Emma honed her performance skills through dancing, singing, and taking part in many other school productions, including the Daisy Pratt Poetry Competition, in which she won first place for her year at age seven. Then in 2000, Emma auditioned for the role of Hermione Granger in the film version of J.K. Rowling’s best selling book "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone." (or "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone" if you’re in the US) She was competing against many other girls for the part and didn’t expect to get the role at all. But surprise, surprise, the role was hers! When "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone" hit the big screens in 2001, Emma was an instant smash hit. She gained a huge following all over the world practically overnight. It was without surprise to audiences that she has returned to the big screen twice more to star as Hermione in the two subsequent Harry Potter films, "Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets" and the recently released "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." Her role in "Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets" secured Emma the highly prestigious AOL award for Best Supporting Actress, and the nickname ‘One Take Watson' because she could do a scene in one take! Now that's talent. Emma still lives in Oxfordshire, England, with her now divorced mother and her younger brother, Alex (who’s 3 years younger than Emma). She has 2 cats, Domino and Bubbles (although Domino is actually her brother's). Emma continues to balance her love of filming with her studies and school activities and is a keen hockey, netball, tennis and rounders player as well as a budding athlete. She is also an art scholar and boasts the most colorful and creative dressing room at the studio! Although her hair is brown in the Harry Potter movies, she's naturally a blonde. She once dressed up as a witch for Halloween, but she had no idea that years later, she would be playing one.
